The Shura Council, at a meeting chaired by its Speaker HE Speaker Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud on Wednesday, reviewed a Cabinet decision that the Ministry of Interior give priority to granting permanent residency permit to the children of Qatari women married to non-Qataris so that the ministry can take the necessary steps to help the children and mothers overcome the difficulties facing them.
The Council also reviewed a Cabinet report regarding difficulties faced by children of divorced and widowed Qatari women, born to fathers from countries that are imposing blockade on Qatar, and the letter of the Minister of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs on the ministry’s views in this regard. The blockading countries currently prohibit people from Qatar to enter their territories, separating thousands of families that married across the borders.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Council hailed the arrival of the first shipment of the COVID-19 vaccine in implementation of the directives of the Amir His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to provide the vaccine to everyone according to Qatar’s health standards.
The Council also thanked the medical personnel in the health sector and to all the State’s institutions and entities for the success achieved in containing the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Shura Council also hailed Qatar’s victory to host the 2030 Asian Games, as this will enhance the pioneering role the country is playing in the sports arena, regionally and globally, noting the appreciation it reflects on the position of Qatar, its role and its internal and external achievements under the wise leadership of HH the Amir.
