Good-life Youth Mission (GYM Qatar), formed under Qatar Indian Islahi Centre (QIIC), elected its first team of office-bearers recently.
Shafeeq Chalakudi, World Book of Records title holder for maximum number of push-ups in a minute, was elected chairman of GYM-Qatar, while Aspire fitness trainer and bodybuilder Jassim Trivandrum and Abdulla Hussain were elected as vice-chairmen. Naseem Perambra, a trainer at Marshal Arts, was sworn in as the general convener and he will be assisted by Javad Ahmed of Sidra Medicals and Shamsudheen Kanjangad as conveners. Jihad Akbar and Shafeeq Vadakara were nominated to the director board of the organisation.
The GYM-Qatar Executive Committee comprises Hashir Wayanad, Abdul Fatah, Jasim Nazeeb, Noufal Kondotty, Dr Shebin Siraj, Fahad Luqta, Jazeer Umslal, Feras Fyzal, Aslam Wakra, Shebin Shereef, Salman Ismail, Mohammed Gani, Rashid Payyoli and Asif Kutyadi.
Proposing the project GYM Qatar, QIIC Vice-President Fyzal Karattiyattil explained its dimensions, saying GYM Qatar promotes the importance of sports and exercise in the daily life. “Fitness of our body and mind is paramount. The present pandemic scenario even reiterates it. GYM Qatar motivates youth to adopt a healthy life style,” he said.
