Ooredoo has announced it is to be Official Telecommunications Partner for the upcoming Amir Cup Final, the last match in a popular competition featuring all the teams from Qatar’s first and second division.
The Amir Cup Final, postponed from March due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic situation, is set to be held at 7pm on Friday, December 18, 2020, at the new Al-Rayyan Stadium.
Top teams Al Sadd - who have won the Amir Cup an impressive 16 times - and Al Arabi will battle it out to decide who walks off with the trophy and top spot in the 2020 competition.
The match will act as the inaugural event at the Al Rayyan Stadium -- venue for FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 -- and the winning team is guaranteed a place in the 2021 AFC Champions League.
Ooredoo has been proactively working to ensure the telecomms infrastructure at Al-Rayyan Stadium is ready for the event. The venue has been fitted with sophisticated technology – including Massive MIMO antenna and elastic cloud radio technologies - to provide state-of-the-art 5G.
The event will be closely monitored on a real-time basis by a group of on-site experts and the Ooredoo Network Operation Centre to ensure seamless communication in the stadium and at other important hot spots expected on Qatar National Day.
Sabah Rabiah Al Kuwari, Director PR at Ooredoo, said, “We are delighted to be sponsoring the upcoming Amir Cup Final, a much-anticipated event on Doha’s sporting calendar. We have many football fans here in Qatar and some incredible talent, and it’s always exciting to see the action on the pitch. Supporting events that promote a healthy, active lifestyle is hugely important to us as part of our corporate social responsibility strategy, and we’re so pleased to see sporting events gradually resume as we move out of lockdown and back towards some kind of normal. We wish both teams the best of luck, and may the best team win!”
