President of Greece Parliament Konstantinos Tasoulas on Thursday welcomed the Amir His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani’s announcement on holding the Shura Council elections in October 2021. HH the Amir had announced that the Shura Council will hold elections, during the opening of the 49th regular session of the Council on November 3. (QNA)
Shura attends int’l parliamentary
conference on global economy
The Shura Council participated in a parliamentary conference titled ‘The global post-COVID-19 economy: Devising sustainable trade policies to support the fight against poverty’, held by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the European Parliament, through videoconferencing on Thursday. Discussions during the conference included addressing the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, finding solutions to maintain the financial stability of global trade, and meet the needs of developing countries to face the challenges associated with this pandemic. The Council was represented in the conference by HE Nasser bin Sulaiman Al Hayder, a member of the Council. (QNA)
Shura Council participates in MED-Dialogues
The Shura Council participated in the Rome International Forum for Mediterranean Dialogue (MED-Dialogues) via videoconferencing on Thursday. The forum comes in the context of this year’s launch of MED-Dialogues, a high-level annual initiative launched by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Italian Institute for International Political Studies (ISPI) in 2015 in Rome with the aim of strengthening dialogue on priority issues and improving regional cooperation.
