The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) signed a partnership agreement with ExxonMobil Qatar to support energy laboratories at two new science and technology schools.
Undersecretary at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education Dr Ibrahim Al Nuaimi said the ministry is taking measures to increase the percentage of students enrolled in secondary education programmes in science, technology, engineering and mathematics specialisations. So, the project of establishing science and technology schools is one of the most important in achieving Qatar National Vision 2030, which aims to build a knowledge-based economy and bring up new generation of scientists and researchers.
Assistant Undersecretary at the Ministry of Education for Higher Educational Fawzia Al Khater said the existing partnership between the ministry and ExxonMobil Qatar is one of the strongest that has resulted in successful projects, expressing pride in the new agreement, which is in the interest of students in Qatar.
President and General Manager of ExxonMobil Qatar Dominic Genetti said the company will sponsor energy laboratories in the two new schools, similar to its contribution to the first school. He also stressed the company’s commitment to supporting science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) learning, pointing out that this agreement represents a model of working with partners to provide high-quality educational experiences.
Vice-President and Director of Government and Public Affairs Saleh Saad Al Mana added that this agreement is an important step in ExxonMobil Qatar’s long-standing partnership with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
