Qatar saw a 12 percent monthly rise in new driver’s licences in October, according to latest figures released by the Planning and Statistics Authority (PSA).
The report said non-Qatari males accounted for 77 percent of the total driver’s licences issued in October.
The number of traffic violations increased 12.1 percent in October as compared to September, while traffic accidents saw a monthly rise of 16.3 percent.
A total of 534 traffic accident cases were registered in October, a monthly increase of 16.3 percent and an annual decrease of 10.9 percent.
Light injuries accounted for the vast majority of traffic accident cases ( 88 percent) during the same month, followed by severe injuries by 10 percent.
However, 11 deaths were recorded, equivalent to only 2 percent of the total traffic accidents cases.
A total of 5,674 new vehicles were registered in October, showing a monthly decrease of 8.4 percent and an annual decrease of 13.5 percent, the report said.
The total electricity consumption during October reached 4153.7 GWh, a monthly decrease of 16.7 percent and an annual decrease of 12.8 percent.
The total water consumption reached 59644.9 Thousand m3 during the same month attaining a monthly decrease of 0.1 percent and an annual rise of 46.1 percent.
