Qatar Development Bank (QDB) on Tuesday concluded its third edition of the annual ‘Investment Forum’ held this year themed ‘Business Transformation & Growth’ under the strategic sponsorship of the Investment Promotion Agency of Qatar (Invest Qatar) and the platinum sponsorship of the Ministry of Transport and Communications.
Taking place virtually, attendees of QDB Investment Forum 2020 were able to identify about ten emerging projects and to learn about many other companies showcased on the electronic platform and communicate with their owners in order to explore ways of future cooperation.
Commenting on the occasion, Qatar Development Bank CEO Abdulaziz bin Nasser Al Khalifa said that the third edition of the Investment Forum gave an opportunity to link entrepreneurs and owners of small and medium-sized companies with investors and investment funds.
This is in line with QDB’s strategy to facilitate access to capital financing for entrepreneurs, he said.
Khalifa added that QDB seeks, with its partners, to learn about the international investment scene in general, and the Qatari in particular, as well as to inform local investors and international partner funds about the promising Qatari companies, and to enhance the investment environment in small and medium-sized companies within the country.
The forum included a panel discussion entitled ‘Startup Transformation & Growth Conquering Challenges to Scale & Thrive’ as well as a workshop to discuss investment issues in financial technology. It was attended by several local and international investment experts and entrepreneurs.
A select group of emerging and fast-growing companies presented their innovative ideas to attract investors and enhance investment in their entrepreneurial projects.
The Investment Forum aims to connect entrepreneurs with investors and sources of capital, fortify Qatar’s standing as an investment hub, further develop the entrepreneurial ecosystem, and contribute to the growth and
diversification of the local economy.
