The Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs (ADLSA), represented by the Institute of Public Administration, launched on Sunday a programme on the fundamentals of internal auditing in cooperation with the Center for Community Service and Continuing Education at Qatar University (QU).
The training programme, which includes specialists in the field of internal auditing from various government agencies, aims to qualify Qatari employees in order to be able to perform internal audit tasks professionally. The program deals with the understanding and application of the basic principles of the internal audit process in government agencies in accordance with practical experience and in accordance with the legislation in force in the State of Qatar.
The programme includes the basics of internal auditing, in addition to the specialized aspects of management auditing, financial auditing and auditing of information systems.
The training programme has a duration of 60 training hours over a period of three weeks and includes the basics of internal auditing, the knowledge concepts of internal auditing and professional ethics, the technical standards of internal auditing and the establishment of auditing and control institutions in Qatar.
The programme also addresses the main audit-related legislation and the terms of reference of audit departments, the process of identifying, classifying and assessing risks, and participating in preparing the annual audit plan and planning to carry out the specific audit task.
The implementation of the training program comes in accordance with a well thought-out work plan in which managers of internal audit departments in government agencies participate. The implementation of the program was preceded by field visits, meetings and workshops with internal audit employees in various government agencies, as 35 government agencies were visited to consult and prepare for the program in cooperation with the State Audit Bureau.
