Vice Chairman of the National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) Dr Mohammed bin Saif Al Kuwari met on Wednesday with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Finland Pekka Haavisto. The meeting gave an overview of the work of the NHRC, its objectives and its classification to the minister.
Kuwari explained that the NHRC of Qatar is an independent committee concerned with promoting human rights at the national level, and monitoring the conditions of the priority groups of people with disabilities, children, women, the elderly, workers and others. This is in addition to the committee’s role in preparing annual reports on human rights situations and submitting recommendations to the authorities to protect human rights in the country, he explained.
