The Elderly Empowerment and Care Center (Ehsan), affiliated to Qatar Foundation for Social Work (QFSW), has announced suspension of its medical services, including physiotherapy services, that were provided at the centre.
The centre will continue to ensure that the elderly have access to these services in cooperation with the health authorities in the country.
Ehsan, in coordination with the Ministry of Public Health, recently transferred the elderly who had been in the inpatient care of the centre to Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) to ensure that the highest quality health care is provided to them during the pandemic.
Ehsan has renewed its commitment to serving elderly citizens and residents in Qatar and it will continue to provide social and psychological counselling services and support programmes for family caregivers, in addition to educational programmes and raising community awareness of elderly issues.
The centre said it is looking forward to reopening its daycare branches (Ehsan Clubs) to receive its members in a timely manner.
This comes in an effort to enhance Ehsan’s readiness to respond to the challenges posed by the pandemic and its social and economic effects, which affected all groups, particularly the elderly category that Ehsan targets with its services and programmes.
In keeping with the message of the Qatar Social Work Foundation, Ehsan is committed to empowering the elderly and providing them with appropriate services, while at the same time seeking to integrate them into society and keep them together with their families, in order to reduce shelter, spread social awareness of the issues of old age and fundamental rights and enhance communication with different generations.
