Education City Golf Club participated in the first virtual golf tourism exhibition IGTM Links.
IGTM Links took place from 20 to 22 October 2020. It is designed for golf destinations, resorts and golf courses to showcase their products to highly qualified golf tour operators through a sophisticated online appointment system. IGTM is a community of golf travel professionals who are looking for a highly focused and cost-effective way to grow their business.
Pre-scheduled meetings are at the heart of IGTM, providing golf destinations, resorts and courses with the opportunity to connect with leading golf travel agents and tour operators who are helping to expand the global outbound tourism market. Over 1,300 golf travel professionals usually attend IGTM, making it the industry’s largest meeting place.
With Covid-19 disrupting many physical get-togethers, IGTM has decided to introduce IGTM Links as a big thank you to the industry and a way to prepare it for the future. While no substitute for a physical IGTM event — allows golf clubs, resorts and tour operators to connect and benefit from one-to-one meetings with mutually advantageous tradespeople, join panels with key industry speakers and reach out to key media players.
Education City Golf Club continues to develop and work with international organisations to develop golf tourism in Qatar, to lead to the FIFA World Cup in 2022 and to further develop Qatar’s tourism field.
The three golf courses and 2020 host of the Qatar Masters Education City Golf Club Commercial Bank are well positioned by offering something for everyone from school to golf. Located in Education City, the facility adds to the endless facilities that support tourism, such as Al Shaqab, the Qatar National Library and much more.
“Typically, we’ve visited IGTM annually as part of our strategic outlook for developing golf tourism in Qatar and with global flight restrictions, we’re excited about this new platform to connect with Tour Operators as we look forward to developing this segment again in 2021 in line with the upcoming Qatar Masters Commercial Bank,” said Michael Braidwood, General Manager of Education City.
