Raja’s CAF Champions League semi-final second leg against Zamalek in Egypt on Saturday has had to be postponed after eight of the Moroccan club’s players tested positive for coronavirus.
Raja, who lost the home leg 1-0, will now play the second leg at Cairo’s International Stadium on November 1, the Confederation of African Football announced on Thursday.
CAF in a statement said they were notified on Tuesday about eight Covid-19 cases in the Raja squad and the team’s subsequent quarantine “until October 27”.
“Given this situation CAF has agreed to delay the semi-final return leg between Zamalek and Raja until November 1,” CAF confirmed.
The other semi-final second leg between Al Ahly and Wydad Casablanca goes ahead - Al Ahly won the first leg 2-0 - with the final maintained for its original date of November 6.
Raja’s virus outbreak was put down to celebrations this month after they became Moroccan champions for the first time in seven years.
