The Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants Doha LLC (G) held a webinar on ‘Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in the New Normal’ on Friday.
The two-hour event focused on the KPIs’ impact on the overall global economy, the basics of KPI and the responses of the businesses considering the economic scenarios these companies are embracing.
Around 50 PICPA members, associates and guests participated in the webinar led by PICPA Doha LLC (G) Chairman Paul Jason Jimenez (Community Affairs), Chairman Chester Mendoza (Ways & Means) and Head of Associates Eduardo A Chavarria.
The webinar fostered engagement and interaction through the lively facilitation of Christian Dave M Barrameda, Picpa Doha vice president, and Karish Laura Eletante, chairman of Social Media Relations, as the programme emcees.
Clint Daniel Fadera, director of Financial Accounting Advisory Services at Ernst & Young (EY) – Qatar, was the keynote speaker.
He shared his views regarding the relevance of KPIs from different sectors before the pandemic-hit the market in 2019 and the circumstances every business is currently facing.
He pointed out that the gap between strategic intent and day-to-day operations should be continuously scrutinised to measure the performances and assess levels of implications.
On reaching the business objectives and positive outcomes as business translates its strategy into operational terms, Fadera said. “The Balance Scorecard is the bridge that closes the gap to enable one to undertake its mandate.”
KPI assurance is an ongoing process requiring the involvement of key stakeholders, leadership teams and technical experts as a number of challenges are being cascaded. Fadera reiterated that one should understand the companies’ objectives to be able to measure KPIs and to solidify the expected outcomes.
He closed the session by sharing his thoughts about ‘KPI Assurance Methodology’ to build a sustainable KPIs framework and a reliable reporting process to protect businesses or companies from failing or exiting in this time of madness.
