Secretary-General of Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) Ali bin Hassan Al-Hammadi received a delegation from Al-Markhiya Sports Club, which honoured QRCS for its contribution in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic in cooperation with other government organisations and NGOs.
The club delegation consisted of Ali Hamad Al-Mseifri, chairman, and Saleh Fadl Al-Kaabi, vice-chairman. Yousef Mohamed Al-Awadi, director of Resource Mobilization, Dr Mohamed Jassim Al-Muslimani, director of Compliance and Risk Management, Dr Fawzi Oussedik, head of International Relations, and Abdul-Rahman Al-Zini, head of Marketing, attended the meeting.
In his remarks, Al-Mseifri said, “As sports clubs, we recognise the great work done by QRCS in the face of COVID-19. Although QRCS focuses mainly on volunteerism, its response to the crisis has proved to be uniquely professional and competent. We hope that the cooperation between QRCS and Al-Markhiya SC will soon be established. We are here to present a symbolic gift of honor to QRCS, expressing our deep appreciation for their remarkable efforts.
Al-Hammadi welcomed the joint work with Al-Markhiya and other sports clubs on community service. “QRCS is a local humanitarian organisation with an international mandate as part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, serving as the country’s humanitarian arm and part of its soft power,” he said.
“QRCS’s active engagement in the government’s fight against the virus is part of our national and humanitarian responsibilities,” Al Hammadi added.
“We would like to thank our brothers from the Al-Markhiya SC for thisnice gesture.”
