The Cabinet, at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister and Minister of Interior HE Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani on Wednesday, welcomed the peace agreement signed between the Sudanese government, Sudan Revolutionary Front and armed groups’ members of the peace process that was signed on Saturday in South Sudan capital Juba with the participation of Qatar.
The cabinet stressed that the agreement was a great achievement that could help Sudan achieve stability, peace and enhance national unity among the Sudanese people. The cabinet added that the agreement could also help focus the country’s resources towards development and rebuilding what wars destroyed, calling on the remaining armed groups to join the peace process.
The Cabinet also praised the efforts of South Sudan in reaching this agreement, stressing Qatar’s firm support for the unity and sovereignty of Sudan.
Minister of Public Health HE Dr Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari then briefed the Cabinet on the latest developments in the efforts to contain the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19). The Cabinet stressed the importance of precautionary measures in combatting the epidemic.
The Cabinet later approved a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in diplomatic training signed between Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Diplomatic Institute and Moldova’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration’s Diplomatic Institute.
The Cabinet reviewed the results of the 106th session of the Economic and Social Council of the Arab League that took place on September 3, 2020 via videoconference, and took the appropriate decisions regarding it.
Following the meeting, Minister of Justice and Acting Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs HE Dr Issa bin Saad Al Jafali Al Nuaimi discussed all issues on its agenda.
