Qatari stocks closed the last trading session of the week on a positive note after witnessing heavy trading for the day.
The Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) main index gained 1.02 points, or 0.01 percent, to close at 9,788.29 points on Thursday.
The volume of shares traded increased to 447.793 million on Thursday from 359 million on Wednesday and the value of shares increased to QR1.164 billion from QR720.78 million in the previous trading session.
The QSE Total Return Index gained 0.01 percent to close at 18,817.66 points. QSE All Share Index lost 0.21 percent to close at 3,009.95 points.
However, on the weekly basis the QSE index decreased 1.55 percent to close at 9,788.29 points. Market capitalisation decreased by 2.2 percent to reach QR575.3 billion as compared to QR588 billion at the end of the previous week.
United Development Company (UDC) was the best performing stock for the week, with a gain of 16.9 percent. On the other hand, Qatar German Company for Medical Devices was the worst performing stock with a decline of 20.2 percent.
Trading value during the week increased by 9.2 percent to reach QR4.1 billion against QR3.7 billion in the prior trading week. UDC was the top value traded stock during the week with total traded value of QR918.2 million.
Trading volume decreased by 2.1 percent to reach 2.09 billion shares against 2.14 billion shares in the previous trading week.
The number of transactions increased by 7.2 percent to reach 64,400 against 60,097 in the previous week. UDC was also the top volume traded stock during the week with total traded volume of 499.3 million shares.
