Minister of Municipality and Environment HE Eng Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie has called for development and speeding up of the building permit procedures, educating consultants and owners and coordinating with the concerned service agencies in the State, with the aim of reducing the period of issuing the licence and working to overcome any obstacles related to the permit, or the building completion certificate and solving related
issues.
The minister made the call on Wednesday at the first annual planning forum organised by the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) via video conference. The forum’s activities continued on Wednesday with the participation of a number of assistant undersecretaries and directors of municipalities and departments.
The minister noted the importance of having a clear indicator of issuing the licence for all categories of projects.
He affirmed the importance and role of the Center for Geographic Information Systems (CGIS), as it has a huge infrastructure as well as programmes that the sectors of the ministry can benefit from in many fields, including public hygiene, waste recycling, urban planning and other environmental matters.
On customer service, he noted the functions and role of the Customer Service department and the unified call centre, which has an advanced infrastructure and system to receive and respond to the public’s inquires and requests.
Subaie pointed to the importance of the public services affairs sector in the areas of recycling and treatment of waste and public hygiene, and its impact on the environment, and stressed the necessity of completing the waste recycling chain from source to disposal with recycling and use, noting the importance of partnership with the private sector and encouraging it to engage more in this field. He also addressed the importance of establishing public parks and increasing green spaces, as part of the country’s broader environmental look.
The fourth session of the first annual planning forum included introducing presentations of plans, programmes, projects and activities of departments, as it included presentations on the building permits complex, plans and projects of the Customer Service department and the unified call centre, a presentation on the technical office and another on an office for external reserves.
The fifth session included reviewing the main plans, programmes, projects and activities for the general services affairs sector, Public Parks , Public Hygiene, Mechanical Material and Waste Recycling and Treatment departments.
