Qatar calls for applying highest safety standards to nuke reactors in M-E

Qatar has called for applying the highest safety standards to nuclear reactors in the Middle East region. It stressed the importance of strengthening the role of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to prevent nuclear proliferation, promote nuclear disarmament and peaceful use of nuclear energy. This came in a statement of Ambassador of Qatar to Austria and the Permanent Representative of Qatar to the United Nations and international organisations in Vienna HE Sultan bin Salmeen Al Mansouri during the 64th session of IAEA’s General Conference in Vienna.
