Qatar Development Bank (QDB) and the National Fund for Small and Medium Enterprises Development in Kuwait held a dialogue entitled ‘Small and medium enterprises stumbling in light of the coronavirus pandemic’.
QDB CEO Abdulaziz bin Nasser Al Khalifa participated in the session that was held on social media platforms, referring to the experience of Qatar in supporting and promoting small and medium enterprises.
He also talked about QDB’s strategy in dealing with the pandemic, pointing out that the strategy is based on three foundations of resilience, advancement, and prosperity. It began with an attempt to overcome and withstand the first phase of the pandemic, then helping the private sector recovery, and finally expand sales.
The bank translated this strategy through training workshops and appropriate information for each case, he said.
QDB launched several programmes and initiatives such as the National Guarantees Program, the Business Promotion Program, the COVID-19 Hackathon, and the Converting Challenges into Opportunities competition that contributed to creating a vibrant and effective eco system, preserving resilience of the private sector, and pushing it towards new horizons.
