The Asian Table Tennis Union (ATTU) has officially chosen Qatar to host the 25th edition of the Asian Men’s and Women’s Table Tennis Championships in September 2021.
The Qatar Table Tennis Association said the announcement was made on the sidelines of the ATTU Executive Office meeting held via videoconference.
The Executive Office decided to assign the organisation of the Asian Table Tennis Championship to Qatar 20 years after it hosted the tournament in 2000, following the withdrawal of China and India from the hosting competition race during the ATTU General Assembly.
Qatar is the first Arab and Gulf country to succeed in winning the honour of hosting the Asian Championship for the second time after the 2000 edition, which confirms the great position that Doha enjoys in organising such major events.
Khalil Al Mohannadi, President of the Qatari and Arab Table Tennis Associations, First Vice President of the ATTU and International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), said the Qatari table tennis will benefit from this historic hosting and gain experiences by playing with the best players in the game.
Al Mohannadi stressed that Qatar will organise a tournament of highest international standards with its world-class facilities, stadiums, and sports halls equipped with the latest technologies.
