Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) has collaborated with Oman Alzheimer’s Society to host an educational webinar for families and caregivers dealing with people living with Alzheimer’s disease or another form of dementia.
Oman and Qatar share many cultural similarities, including a deep respect for the elderly and a desire to enhance the care provided to people living with Alzheimer’s disease.
The webinar was arranged as a virtual event to connect carers in Oman and Qatar to provide them with an ideal platform for exchange of knowledge and experiences.
The event was jointly hosted by Dr Hanadi Al Hamad, Qatar’s National Lead for Healthy Ageing, senior consultant geriatrician and medical director of Rumailah Hospital and Qatar Rehabilitation Institute, Hamad Medical Corporation, Qatar; and Dr Hamed Al Sinawi. Senior consultant old age psychiatrist and chairman of Oman Alzheimer’s Society.
Participation and support also came from caregivers in each country who shared information about caring for people with Alzheimer’s disease. For the first time in Qatar, an elderly man shared his personal experience of living with Alzheimer’s disease.
The event was also supported by the Doha Chapter of Alzheimer’s Indonesia.
