WASHINGTON: Democratic presidential contender Joe Biden said the winner of the 2020 US election should decide who replaces Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the country’s highest court. Ginsburg died on Friday at the age of 87 from complications related to pancreatic cancer.
“Her opinions and her dissent are going to continue to shape the basis of law,” Biden said. “There is no doubt that the voters should pick the president and the president should pick the justice for the senate to consider,” he continued.
Ginsburg’s death could give Trump the opportunity to select a third Supreme Court justice, which would upend the court’s shaky balance between liberals and conservatives. (DPA)
