PARIS: Despite rising coronavirus numbers in France, the Elysee Palace in Paris opened its doors to visitors at the weekend.
On ‘Open Monument Day’ curious Parisians with mouth and nose coverings strolled through the official residence of French President Emmanuel Macron. They could marvel at the palace’s Golden Room, the president’s office, adorned with gold, which has just been extensively restored.
In addition to other rooms such as the First Lady’s office, there were gifts from official state guests and a photo exhibition on Macron’s work, and the Orchestra of the Republican Guard also played.
The garden was also open, and people were able to take photos on the famous staircase in the palace courtyard. (DPA)
