Kaagapay ng Manggawang Pilipino (KMP), in cooperation with International Domestic Worker Federation (IDWF) and Bayanihan ng Manggagawa sa Konstruksyon ng Qatar (BMKQ), conducted its first-ever Occupational Health and Safety Awareness Training for Domestic Workers at Inspire Academy on Friday.
KMP President Bernardo Dijamco Jr, with the help of the other office-bearers and executive committees of KMP, helped put together the event with 30 participants who were mostly Filipino domestic workers.
The programme kicked off with an inspirational message from Khalid Abdulrahman al Emadi, Occupational Safety & Health Supervisor at ADLSA. Bayanihan Qatar President Engr. Jerry Ronquillo also addressed the participants followed by video messages from Philippine Labour
Attache to Qatar David Des Dicang and Elizabeth Tang, General Secretary of IDWF.
OSH Awareness Module 1 to 5 (House Work Safety, Manual Handling, Work at Height, Chemical Handling, and Electrical Safety) was shared to the participants by the trainer Eliseo Bermudo, an HSE (health, safety and environment) supervisor.
Also during the occasion, BMKQ President Engr. Ressie Fos delivered a motivational message which kick started the afternoon session which covered Modules 7 to 12 (Kitchen Safety, Food Safety, Fire Safety, Emergency Procedures, Waste Management, Security).
A certificate of participation was issued at the end of the programme. The date and location of the planned follow up OSH Training will be announced soon.

in Qatar also announced that they
will be conducting a webinar on Building Proper and Convincing
Resume in October.
KMP, a member of the Bayanihan Qatar, is a Filipino group promoting workers’ welfare and aimed at initiating outreach programmes. It was also established to build a strong
and empowered Filipino community by developing leaders through leadership and paralegal trainings, providing services, information drive and other community and outreach programmes.
BMKQ, another member of Bayanihan Qatar, is a group of Filipino workers in the construction sector. While IDWF is a membership-based global organisation of domestic and household workers. Its objective is to build a strong, democratic and united domestic/household workers global organisation to protect and advance domestic workers’ rights everywhere.
