As part of World Cleanup Day, which is marked on the third Saturday of September every year, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) honoured a number of cleaning workers in appreciation of their daily efforts in maintaining public cleanliness throughout the country.
The ministry also organised a campaign to clean Al Wakra Beach, during which waste materials were collected from the beach and removed.
As part of the celebrations, the MME will launch on Friday a competition on the public hygiene law for the public on its social media platforms with the aim of raising awareness about the importance of hygiene and its role in promoting a healthy lifestyle.
On the campaign to clean up Al Wakra Beach, Assistant Director of the General Cleaning Department at the MME Mohammed Faraj Al Kubaisi said, “The campaign comes within the framework of the ministry’s interest in preserving the cleanliness of all beaches throughout the country, as well as its keenness to participate in the World Cleanup Day, which is an occasion to raise awareness among the public about the importance of keeping beaches clean.
