The art initiative launched by Qatar Charity (QC), in partnership with Dar Hessa, has recently been concluded, receiving an overwhelming response from Qatari and resident artists as well as citizens.
Some 42 different paintings have been seen on Qatar Charity’s website and social media accounts to help low-income families in Qatar with the benefits of these paintings, particularly in the light of the outbreak of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Hanadi Al Darwish, an artist and the owner of Dar Hessa, said, “The artists and people interacted overwhelmingly with the initiative, whose profits were channeled towards supporting low-income families affected by the coronavirus within the State of Qatar.”
She also expressed her delight at the success of the project, which she called ‘a marvelous human experience,’ which represented the value of art in community service, social cohesion, easing the misery of the poor, and increasing awareness of humanitarian and social issues.
She added, “We, as artists, must contribute to providing aid to the affected families, and limiting the social and economic negative impacts of the pandemic.”
Mona Al Badr, an artist, said, “We have received assistance from Qatar Charity in organising the initiative and we look forward to participating in such a drive in collaboration with Qatar Charity in the future.” She also noted that art is a language that anyone can understand and sends a message that is simple to win support for a noble cause and urges benefactors to help the coronavirus-hit people.
Jawaher Al Mannai, also an artist, said that the initiative has contributed to demonstrating the humanitarian role of artists in supporting the community service, adding that the artist should take part in such initiatives to show the values of art and culture in supporting humanitarian action.
