THE State of Qatar, represented by the General Directorate of Traffic, participated in the 36th meeting for Traffic Directors-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council States.
The meeting, which was held remotely, discussed ways to enhance cooperation on a number of topics related to raising traffic safety rates in the GCC countries.
It also reviewed the importance of continuing to exchange traffic statistics and information so as to contribute to reducing the rates of violations and accidents and the resulting deaths and injuries.
The Assistant Director-General of Traffic Col Nasser Durman Al Hajri represented Qatar at the meeting.
The Qatari side presented a proposal to adopt a unified training guide for driving education, with the aim of raising the level of efficiency of driving schools in the member states and contribute to enhancing the protection of commuters.
The meeting also dealt with the impact of coronavirus (COVID-19), amid precautionary health measures, on traffic safety.
