Qatar on Monday participated in the 154th Ordinary Session of the Arab League Council at the Permanent Delegates level chaired by the State of Palestine at the headquarters of the League’s General Secretariat in Cairo.
The meeting prepared for the Council’s meetings at the level of foreign ministers on Wednesday.
Qatar’s delegation was led by Permanent Representative of Qatar to the Arab League HE Ambassador Ibrahim bin Abdulaziz Al Sahlawi.
Permanent delegates discussed items on the Council’s agenda and prepare draft decisions related to them to submit them to the meeting of foreign ministers for discussion and approval.
The draft agenda included a number of political, security, social, health and administrative items of interest to joint Arab action, foremost of which are developments in the Palestinian cause and the situation in Libya, Syria and Yemen.
The agenda also included social and health issues, including Arab cooperation in confronting the COVID-19 pandemic and the Arab strategy for prevention and response to combat all forms of violence in refugee and displacement status, especially sexual violence against women and girls, in addition to an Arab study on violence against the elderly.
