The Qatar University College of Health Sciences (QU) held an online orientation meeting for its new members on Monday. Approximately 75 new students, including transfer students, attended the meeting. This fall, 127 students, including 111 Qatari students, were admitted to the college.
The meeting began with the welcome of Dean Dr Hanan Abdul Rahim, followed by a detailed orientation for the common year presented by Nada Al Kubaisi, assistant dean for Student Affairs. The common year includes courses common to the colleges of the QU Health Cluster, namely the College of Medicine, the College of Dentistry, the College of Pharmacy and the College of Health Sciences. The orientation programme also introduced the students to the four college departments of biomedical sciences, human nutrition, public health and, most recently, the Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Sciences.
Head of departments provided students with an overview of the programmes and their academic and professional opportunities, which contribute to the building up of health workers in the country.
The students interacted with questions and lively discussions, during which they discussed the current challenges and opportunities for the coming academic year.
Dr Abdul Rahim expressed pride inthe high-quality programmes offered by the college, which have a long history of collaboration with the health sector. She also expressed her confidence that the close collaboration between faculty and college students will lead to a new academic year full of achievements on all fronts. (TNN)
