THE number of driving licences issued increased by 83 percent while the number of vehicles registered went up by 43.2 percent to 1,579 and 5,582, respectively, during the month of July compared to June 2020, the monthly bulletin of the Planning and Statistics Authority (PSA) has revealed.
A total of 548 road accidents were recorded in July, 2020, showing a monthly increase of 51.8 percent. Light injuries accounted for the majority of the accidents cases with 87 percent of the cases, followed by severe injuries by 11 percent. However, 12 deaths were recorded, equivalent to only two percent of the cases during the period.
The total number of traffic violations also increased by 49.9 percent in July compared to June, 2020. The over-speeding (radar) violations were the highest, constituting 66.3 percent of the total traffic violations during the period, revealed the bulletin.
The demographic statistics showed that the total population of Qatar increased from 2.48 million in July, 2019 to 2.75 million at the end of July, 2020. (TNN)
Regarding vital statistics, 2,152 live births and 269 deaths were recorded in July, 2020.
Moreover, July, 2020, saw a monthly increase of 46.5 percent and 188.2 percent, respectively, in marriage contracts and divorce certificates wherein the total number of marriage contracts was 454 , while the total number of divorce cases reached 219.
Meanwhile, the social security reached QR83 million in July, 2020 for 15,324 beneficiaries.
The total electricity consumption during the month was 5,471.5 Gwh, registering a monthly increase of 15.6 percent compared to June, 2020. Similarly, the total water consumption reached 61,990.9 m3 during the same month, indicating a monthly increase of 3.3 percent, according to the bulletin.
