With the phased-in reopening of cultural institutions and services continuing, Qatar Museums has announced updated timings for the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA), Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art, the Fire Station and museum libraries from September 1.
Health and safety protocols, in accordance with guidelines from Qatar’s Health Protection and Communicable Disease Control Office in the Ministry of Public Health, will require visitors to pre-book tickets on the Qatar Museums’ website, present a ‘green’ health status on the Ehteraz virus-tracing mobile application and wear a face mask throughout the duration of their visit.
CEO of Qatar Museums Ahmad Al Namla said, “As the country enters into Phase 4 of the gradual lifting of COVID-19 restrictions, Qatar Museums has reassessed its opening timings and is pleased to announce extended hours. With the further easing of restrictions, visitors to our cultural institutions can enjoy more time browsing our temporary and permanent collections and dining at one of our cafes or restaurants. Over the coming months, the community can also look forward to a full roster of activities and exhibitions catering to a range of cultural interests and artistic passions.”
Updated timings for MIA, Mathaf Islamic Art Museum and the Fire Station are as follows:
Saturday to Thursday from 9am to 7pm, Friday from 1:30pm to 7pm.
No restriction on number of museum visitors. However, exhibitions will have reduced staff and the necessary social distancing precautions will apply.
MIA Library will operate as the museum’s opening hours.

Jiwan: Saturday to Wednesday from 12pm to 5pm; Thursday and Friday: Closed

MIA restaurants:
Idam: Saturday to Wednesday: 12pm to 9:30pm; Thursday: 3pm to 9:30pm; Friday: Closed
MIA Café: Saturday to Thursday: 9am to 7pm; Friday: 1:30pm to 7pm
MIA Park kiosks:
MIA Park Kiosk Café: Daily from 3pm to 10pm
Picco Café Kiosk: Closed until further notice.
Hilal Food Truck: Daily from 1pm to 10pm
Moons Café Kiosk: Closed until further notice.
Fire station
Café 999: Sunday to Saturday: 8am to 11pm with a break for Friday prayers between 11am and 1pm.
Cass ArtcTypeface:> Saturday to Thursday: 9am to 7pm; Friday: 2pm to 7pm
Qatar Museums’ playgrounds and the National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ) galleries, along with its Sister Cake Mobile Kiosk, will remain closed until October 1.
Though NMoQ galleries remain closed, the museum will launch two digital exhibitions: Qatar’s Culinary Journey and Habitat & Shelters, exploring themes from its permanent galleries as well as content curated by the wider community.
