THE Ministry of Culture and Sports (MoCS) on Wednesday organised an array of virtual activities at its youth centres and clubs to celebrate the International Youth Day 2020, which falls on August 12 each year.
The ministry celebrates the day every year in order to stress the importance of engaging the youth in addressing global challenges while contributing to directing policies towards achieving their ambitions.
The ministry believes that youth empowerment is a joint responsibility for enhancing their role in tackling challenges facing development and prosperity of societies.
The theme of this year’s International Youth Day is ‘Youth Engagement for Global Action’, which highlights the efforts and ideas that can be contributed by young people to enrich various national and international institutions and sectors.
Marking the occasion, the Ministry of Culture and Sports organised a variety of activities, including a workshop on the topic ‘Start Your Business’, hosted by the Qatar National Commission for Education, Culture and Science; a seminar on ‘Qatari youth and development’; and another seminar on ‘Qatari youth and their contributions and ambitions’, with the participation of an elite of youth.
The Qatar Scientific Club (QSC) held a discussion on the role of Qatari youth in the face of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, highlighting the role of the club during the crisis. (TNN)
