The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has insisted that people arriving in Qatar must adhere to quarantine requirements. Arriving passengers must follow all guidelines to ensure a safe and effective home quarantine period.
“When arriving in Qatar, you will be required to quarantine at home for a period of time. It is extremely important that you follow the rules of home quarantine. You have a responsibility and duty to protect yourself, your family, your friends, and the community as a whole,” the MoPH said in a tweet.
According to the ministry, passengers arriving from the countries identified by the government as low risk, will be required to quarantine at home for a period of one week. Passengers arriving from any other country will be required to quarantine at one of the government-approved hotels for a period of one week, followed by another week of home quarantine.
The passengers who have undergone tests in one of the ministry approved COVID-19 testing centres abroad and who have had a COVID-19-free certificate, will be exempted from tests at the airport and will be eligible for home quarantine for one week.
The ministry has advised to avoid any form of physical contact with the family members, upon arrival.
“Stay at home in a separate room, preferably one with an en-suite bathroom, and ensure proper and regular ventilation. You should not leave the room during the quarantine period. Do not allow visitors to your house during the quarantine period,” the MoPH said.
It is essential to download the Ehteraz app and the health code colour during quarantine will be yellow. The colour will turn to green once the quarantine period is over and the COVID-19 test result is negative.
A quarantined person will be obliged to answer the phone calls from the public health team, agree to receive a visit from the public health team every 2-3 days and inform the public health team if any symptoms developed (fever, cough, body aches, change in taste or smell).
People in home quarantine are also advised to ensure that they follow all precautions including maintaining hand hygiene and keeping distance from others.
“Cover your mouth with a tissue while coughing or sneezing and dispose of the tissue immediately in a lined trash bin. Wash your hands immediately after. Wash your hand regularly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use alcohol-based hand sanitizer,” said the Ministry.
Only one member of the family should be allowed to provide care to the person in home quarantine. The caregiver should wear a facemask and gloves every time he or she enters the room and should dispose of the mask and gloves and wash their hands immediately after leaving the room.
The home quarantine guidelines also requires to, avoid sharing personal household items like dishes, drinking glasses, eating utensils, toothbrushes, clothes, pillows, bed linen, or towels with other people in the house. Clean and disinfect surfaces and used items at least once a day, including door handles, toilets, tables, TV remote controls, mobile phones, and all other high-touch surfaces and items. Single-use gloves should be used when cleaning and once finish cleaning, dispose of the gloves and wash hands thoroughly.
