THE Chief Education Officer of the Education Excellence Award (EEA) and Secretary-General of the Qatar National Committee for Education, Culture and Science at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Dr Hamda Hassan Al Sulaiti has revealed that the Education Excellence Award Development Committee is working on including new award categories for its 14th session to be held in 2021.
The committee will be submitting proposals in this regard to the ministry along with the final report of its work, Dr Sulaiti said, adding that the committee is also reviewing the the award criteria for all its nine categories for the session.
According to Dr Sulaiti, the committee for this year’s award held five meetings during which booklets for all award categories were distributed to the members of the committee for reviewing and to get their feedback.
She added that the committee has already discussed the recommendations received from the award’s arbitration committees, most of which are related to implementation and follow-up mechanisms for the award for the primary, preparatory and secondary stages.
The committee also discussed proposals for the teachers’ and scientific research categories as well as studied the proposal submitted by the Executive Committee of the award’s Ambassadors’ programme.
Regarding the recommendations related to the Education Excellence Award, Dr Sulaiti said that the committee has sought separation of the general comments of the arbitrators from the essential recommendations and proposals relating to the development of the award’s evaluation criteria.
She also highlighted the importance of holding a meeting between the members of the committee and the those who submit proposals to the committee, as well as between the various award committees to finish the work on time. As for the Ambassador for Excellence programme, she said that tools and form of the programme have been prepared and the candidates are required to submit a simple electronic file that includes their CV and a description of their accomplishments as per the requirements.
