The Prime Minister of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan HE Dr. Omar Al-Razzaz has praised the contributions made by Qatar Charity (QC) in supporting the efforts of the Kingdom to combat the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
This is reflected in a letter of thanks from the Prime Minister, in which he has expressed his pride in the depth of relations between the State of Qatar and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan under their wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and His Highness King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein.
As part of its global effort to stem the coronavirus outbreak and extend support to the affected population, Qatar Charity has equipped 400 caravans for quarantine services and medical check-ups on the south-eastern border of Jordan at an estimated cost of QR4mn riyals and with a capacity of 3,600 people, with the aim of examining those arriving across borders.
Qatar Charity has distributed food baskets to 1,250 Syrian and Palestinian refugees and needy families affected by coronavirus via coupons allowing recipients to purchase basic food supplies.
In addition, Qatar Charity has provided medical and food aid and other assistance to a number of countries, including Yemen, Lebanon, Tunisia, Palestine, Pakistan , Bangladesh, Sudan, Kyrgyzstan, Mali, Chad and Kenya.
Qatar Charity has also signed several cooperation agreements with UN agencies, such as UNICEF, UNHCR and OCHA, to maximise the number of beneficiaries affected by the pandemic.
