The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME), represented by the Fisheries Resources Department, has released 51,000 young seabream fish in Qatari marine waters.
The fish, each weighing around five kilogrammes, were raised at the Aquatic Research Centre in Ras Matbakh. They were released in two batches -- 21,000 and 30,000 -- as part a restocking programme led by the ministry.
The MME plans to release about 200,000 seabream fish under the supervision of the Aquatic Research Centre’s team, in accordance with scientific and environmental specifications and standards that ensure the availability of appropriate conditions for growth and nutrition and protection from predators.
