THE State of Qatar recently took part in the technical meeting of the team tasked with water resources chapter of the environmental outlook report for the Gulf Cooperation Council member states.
Qatar was represented at the meeting, including national experts in the field of water resources and focal points from the ministries and agencies of the environment in the GCC countries, by the Environmental Monitoring and Laboratory Department of the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) and Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa).
The meeting, which was held remotely, came in the context of the agreement between the GCC General Secretariat and the West Asia Office of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP).
The report deals with the state of the environment of the member states in the areas of air quality, water resources, biological diversity, land resources, coastal and marine environments, and discusses technical issues related to modern data and indicators in the field of water resources, according to the methodology of the integrated environmental assessment of the UNEP.
