Qatar Charity (QC) has distributed 2,500 meals to various Asian expatriate families and workers affected by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The distribution of the meals, in which many volunteers participated, took place in cooperation with the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs, forums, councils and committees of Asian communities.
The meals have benefited the workers and families from Indian, Bangladeshi, Malaysian, Sri Lankan, Nepalese, Filipino, Pakistani and Indonesian communities. The meals were distributed under the supervision of the Qatar Charity Center for Community Development for Asian expatriates (Friend Cultural Center) in many areas of Qatar, including Al Wakrah, Al Rayyan, Mansoura and Al Hilal.
As part of its humanitarian and social services provided in the country, Qatar Charity had earlier distributed 13,262 food parcels to various expatriate communities residing in Qatar in cooperation with their embassies, benefiting nearly 53,048 Asian, African and Arab expatriates. Qatar Charity has cooperated with 20 embassies, including those of Kenya, Nepal, the Philippines, Ethiopia, Bangladesh, India, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Mali and Sri Lanka.
Qatar Charity had earlier given health bags to workers, in addition to distributing multilingual awareness leaflets and publishing 30 videos in four languages - Arabic, English, Hindi and Pilipino.
The embassies thanked Qatar Charity for extending support to their communities in Qatar, which confirms the strength of the relations between their countries and Qatar where people are known with their love to do good and help others, especially in the times of adversity.
