The live fundraising campaign — Lebanon in Our Hearts — has raised over QR94 million during a live transmission on Qatar TV on Saturday.
The donations were made by individuals, banks and companies based in the country for the Beirut blast victims.
Donators that included several companies, eateries etc voluntarily came forward to contribute for the cause.
The major donors include Qatar National Bank (QR2 million), Al Rayan Bank (QR1.5 million), Qatar International Islamic Bank (QR 1 million), Ooredoo (QR1 million), Al-Fardan Holding Group (QR1 million).
A donation from the sons of the late Abdul Jalil Al Abdul-Ghani amounted to QR3.2 million, while Nasser bin Rashid Al Kaabi donated QR1 million for the campaign.
Other notable contributions are: Al Khaliji Commercial Bank (QR500,000), Gulf Exchange Company QR365,000, Qatar Islamic Insurance Group (QR100,000), Habib Qatar International Exchange Company (QR50,000), Uni Money Exchange Company (QR10,000), and Islamic Exchange Company (QR20,000).
The fundraising campaign was organised by the Regulatory Authority for Charitable Activities (RACA) in cooperation with Qatar Charity (QC) and the Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS), to support Lebanese people, following the disaster that struck the port of Beirut.
The campaign reflects Qatar’s friendly position to stand with the people of Lebanon.
A number of scholars, humanitarian activists and representatives from local charity organisations were guests at the programme who encouraged people to extend their helping hand for their brothers in Lebanon.
