Lebanese Prime Minister Hassan Diab says he will propose holding early parliamentary elections as protesters clash with police outside parliament.
“I am with [the] Lebanese aspiring for change,” he says on Saturday evening in a televised address.
His proposal for early election comes as protesters, angry with their leaders after Tuesday’s massive blast in the capital Beirut, took to the streets in the city.
“The scale of the catastrophe is bigger than anyone can imagine,” Diab says. “We are in a state of emergency,” he adds.
