Beirut The United Nations Special Tribunal for Lebanon has postponed its verdict in the 2005 Rafik Hariri assassination case to August 18.
“This was out of respect for the countless victims of the devastating explosion that shook Beirut on 4 August, and the three day[s] of public mourning in Lebanon,” the STL said on its website.
The final verdict was supposed to be announced on Friday.
“The trial chamber will deliver the judgement on Tuesday, 18 August 2020, at 11 am,” the statement read.
Four alleged Hezbollah members were supposed to be convicted in absentia by the court in the Netherlands for the massive blast that killed former premier Rafik Hariri, along with 21 other people, on February 14, 2005. (DPA)
