The Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) index remained flat declining by 0.12 points during the week to close at 9,368.17 points on Wednesday. The week had just four trading sessions as the exchange was closed on Thursday due to Eid Al Adha festival.
Market capitalisation decreased by 0.2 percent to reach QR547.7 billion as compared to QR548.5 billion at the end of the previous week.
Trading value during the week decreased by 25.6 percent to reach QR1.7 billion against QR2.3 billion in the previous week.
Qatar German Company for Medical Devices (QGMD) was the top value traded stock during the week with a total traded value of QR238.9 million.
Trading volume decreased by 19.2 percent to reach 1 billion against 1.3 billion shares in the previous week.
Qatar Aluminium Manufacturing was the top volume traded stock during the week with a total traded volume of 128.5 million shares.
The number of transactions also declined by 20.8 percent to reach 35,763 against 45,155 in the previous week.
Qatar Oman Investment Company was the best performing stock for the week, with a gain of 13.9 percent.
On the other hand, Qatar Cinema and Film Distribution Company was the worst-performing stock with a decline of 5.7 percent.
Industries Qatar and Commercial Bank of Qatar were the primary contributors to the weekly index performance.
Industries Qatar deducted 40.2 points from the index. On the other hand, Commercial Bank of Qatar was the biggest positive contributor to the index adding 46.7 points.
Of the 47 listed companies, 24 companies ended the week higher and 23 stocks closed in the negative territory.
The week saw the banking and financial services index and the transport index close in the positive territory.
The QSE, which is currently closed due to Eid Al Adha holidays, will open for trading on August 5.
