As Qatar gradually eases COVID-19 restrictions in the country, many residents have chosen to spend the Eid Al Adha holidays outdoor, particularly in some of the top beach destinations in the country.
With their favourite home-coooked meals and camping gears, Filipino families made their way to popular destinations such as Al Dukhan, Al Khor and Al Ruwais to enjoy a leisure stroll along the coastline, bask in the sun and swim. Other expats explored relatively new destinations such as Al Marrouna beach to avoid crowd.
All beachgoers made the most of the holidays while strictly observing government imposed rules and regulations to ensure safety of each and everyone.
Robin Oira and his family chose to head to the northernmost tip of Qatar to visit Al Ruwais Beach. He said, “An hour travel from Doha to Al Ruwais Beach is easy to make since you will be navigating through paved roads. The beach with its magnificent backdrop is perfect for family picnics and barbeques. Exploring great outdoors in Qatar will never leave you disappointed. After more than four months of secluding ourselves indoors, taking a break on a beach while observing proper health protocols such as physical distancing is a welcome respite and can reward us a much-needed sense of inner peace. For a while, connecting again with nature gave me much needed time to recharge, clear my mind and soaking up some sun for a few hours restored my energy. It was indeed a short but fun-filled trip that left me feeling refreshed!”
Susi Estacio-Abay and her family were among those who headed to Al Dukhan, a popular family beach in the west of Qatar.
“We are down to the last Islamic holiday in Qatar and the whole family grab the chance to have fun, swim and spend time together early in the morning at Umm Bab beach in Dukhan. It’s an hour drive from Doha via Salwa road going to Dukhan where the beach is located. We really enjoy the beach as it has a clear and clean water, fine sand where kids can play and most importantly it is quiet and less crowded. We are so grateful that Qatar has a lot of beach to offer but we will definitely visit Umm Bab beach again,” said Susi about their fun trip.
Another expat Virginia Carrasco also chose Dukhan Beach to unwind with her family. She said they enjoyed the fresh air as well as interesting seashells in the area.
Marivic Vergara spent the holidays to bond with friends and family at Al Farkiah Coast in Al Khor.
While Leoter Paul Vispo and his family visited Al Marrouna beach, one of the superb beaches located north of Doha on the east coast. He said it was his first time to visit the beach which is more than an hour drive from Doha. According to him, it was not crowded during their visit and so his family enjoyed the beach and the opportunity to bond over great food and good company.
