Chairman of Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA) Abdullah bin Nasser Turki Al Subaie has hailed the ruling of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in favour of Qatar in the Gulf airspace blockade case as “historic”.
In a tweet on Tuesday, Subaie said, “Thank God, Qatar achieved a historic victory over the blockading states in the International Court of Justice. And with this ruling in our favour, we will complete the procedures for national complaints at the International Civil Aviation Organization ICAO, and, by the grace of God, we will once again demonstrate the violation of these international agreements before the world in a civilised manner.”
The ICJ on Tuesday ruled that the ICAO did not make a mistake and was right when it rejected the appeals of the four blockading countries against Qatar by not having jurisdiction to consider their appeals on the issue of the air embargo imposed by these countries on Doha since 2017.
