The College of the North Atlantic–Qatar (CNA-Q) announced a first for Qatar – applied degrees. The College will be offering a Bachelor of Applied Science in Maintenance Engineering Technology, a Bachelor of Applied Business Administration in Human Resource Management and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Clinical Radiography starting in the upcoming academic year.
“Today, the College is witnessing the launch of a new phase in which it will be better able to deliver distinguished educational outputs to the labour market by launching unique applied Bachelor programmes that will open the way for the college to expand in the provision of diverse and comprehensive programmes that will contribute to the process of building and developing the economy of Qatar,” said Dr Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada, chairman of the Board of Trustees of the College of the North Atlantic, Qatar.
“The College of the North Atlantic-Qatar was established in Qatar to meet the state’s development needs from qualified cadres in a scientific, practical and technical way, as the College keeps pace with developments in the state and puts its programs in quantity and quality in line with the requirements of the various sectors in the state of Qatar,” he added.
“These programmes offered by the college today will be followed by other university programmes in the coming years, as we are now in the advanced stages of preparing to transform the college into an applied university, the first of its kind in the State of Qatar.”
“I am very pleased to make this announcement today,” said CNA-Q Acting President Dr. Salem Al Naemi. “Applied degrees are a response to the growing need for highly skilled, ready-to-work graduates in the industry. This is an extremely important step in enabling students to continue their post-secondary experience in Qatar. Applied degrees provide a mix of theoretical and analytical skills with career-oriented, practical education and training. For example, a Bachelor of Applied Science degree is designed to increase the professional management skills of the learner and to meet the demand for leadership of highly technical professionals at the workplace.
“I know a lot of students have been eagerly waiting for this news,” Dr. Salem said.
“I invite them to check out the details of the new degrees on our website and consider attending CNA-Q, or coming back to CNA-Q for their studies. The degrees offer plan is perfectly aligned with the CNA-Q Strategic Plan, which lists student success as a priority.”
CNA-Q has graduated more than thousands of students from more than 30 degree and diploma programmes tailored to meet the needs of the growing and changing economy of Qatar, in the fields of: Business Management and Information Technology, Engineering Technology and Industrial Trades and Health Sciences. All programmes follow the Canadian curriculum and are taught by international instructors with extensive industry experience.
