The Qatari-US Working Group held a meeting via video conferencing to discuss aspects of joint cooperation between the two sides within the framework of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for joint work and to combat human trafficking.
The meeting was jointly chaired by Assistant undersecretary for Labour Affairs at the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs Mohammed Hassan Al Obaidli and Deputy Undersecretary at the US Department of Labour Martha Newton. A line-up of officials from both sides attended the meeting.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the steps taken by authorities concerned in both countries on the precautionary measures to counter COVID-19. The meeting also discussed joint activities and projects and exchange of experiences, according to the fields of cooperation agreed upon in awareness, training and learning about the best methods to raise community’s awareness of laws and legislations in labour affairs and to combat human trafficking.
At the end of the meeting, the two sides emphasised the need to continue discussing developments in the implementation of the MoU and agreements between them.
