New Delhi Bollywood superstar actor Amitabh Bachchan is stable with mild symptoms of the novel coronavirus, the hospital where he is admitted in Mumbai said on Sunday.
The 77-year-old and his son Abhishek Bachchan were admitted to the Nanavati Hospital Saturday after testing positive for the virus. Their home Jalsa had been marked a containment zone, with no one allowed to enter or exit.
“Only essential supplies will be allowed,” Kakani said.
A total of 16 people from the family and staff including guards had been tested and more results were expected on Monday. Messages poured in wishing the high-profile family of actors a speedy recovery.
Mumbai, India’s financial hub and home to the Bollywood film industry, has emerged as the epicentre the country’s outbreak, reporting 91,745 infections and more than 10,000 deaths so far.
The statement from Nanavati Hospital said Bachchan “has confirmed that he will keep updating via Twitter.” The 77-year-old is one of India’s most popular actors and has appeared in nearly 200 films over five decades.
