Qatar Charity (QC) has signed a partnership agreement with the Embassy of Qatar in the Kyrgyz Republic and the Ministry of Health of the country to provide 420 oxygen concentrators to help the country’s battle against coronavirus (COVID-19).
The agreement was signed in the presence of His Excellency Abdullah Al-Sulaiti, ambassador of Qatar to Kyrgyzstan, Secretary of State of the Kyrgyz Ministry of Health Kalysbek Shadjanov and Representative of the Qatar Charity Office in Kyrgyzstan Engineer Hasan Ali Ovda.
The agreement falls within the scope of QC’s humanitarian initiative aimed at reducing the spread of COVID-19 in Kyrgyzstan, where its office has carried out a variety of relief activities in the fields of health and food security.
“This assistance falls within the scope of strengthening relations between the two friendly countries, with the goal of contributing to the Kyrgyz Republic’s efforts to counter coronavirus,” said HE Abdullah Al Sulaiti at a news conference after the signing of the deal.
He added that Qatar, in collaboration with QC, is undertaking a range of humanitarian and development projects in Kyrgyzstan, which include building health centres, schools and homes for the poor, as well as economic empowerment, water and childcare projects.
Eng Ovda said QC is implementing this project, worth more than QR900,000, in cooperation with the embassy of He also said that under the current agreement, 420 oxygen concentrators would be provided to help combat coronavirus infection, pointing out that the procurement procedures have begun and will be completed during the current month.
At the end of the signing ceremony, the State Secretary of the Kyrgyz Ministry of Health Kalysbek Shadykhanov thanked the Government of Qatar, people and the embassy in Kyrgyzstan, as well as the Qatar Charity office in the country for helping the Kyrgyz citizens in such tough circumstances.
