A Malayalam feature film produced by a Doha-based Indian expatriate is set for release on a streaming platform on Sunday. People in Qatar can watch the movie, ‘Musical Chair’, through a smartphone app by paying QR8.
This is the second Malayalam film to be released on an over-the-top (OTT) platform. It will be available on Mainstream TV app from late evening on Sunday.
‘Sufiyum Sujatayum’, starring Jayasurya and Aditi Rao Hydari, was the first Malayalam film to be released on the OTT platform as theatres remain shut in Kerala due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 132-minute ‘Musical Chair’ is directed by award-winning filmmaker Vipin Atley under the banner of Spirogyra & Secura Group in Doha.
Speaking to Qatar Tribune, Director of Secura Group and Chief Executive Officer of Spyrogyra Productions Allen Rajan Mathew said, “The online release will provide an opportunity for the entire family to watch the film for a fair price. OTT release will not only help low-budget films reach out to wider audience, but also regain production cost within a short period.”
Including Allan Mathew and Vipin Atley, more than 100 new actors have acted in this film that focuses on the mystery of death.
The online ticket fare for the film in the US will be $2 and Rs40 in India.
