The lightly raced Know It All (FR), a winner and Group-placed at 2, notched her first Group win in the Derrinstown Stud Fillies Stakes (Group 3) for 3-year-olds at Leopardstown in Ireland on Wednesday.
Owned and bred by Qatar Racing Limited, the bay filly came into the race off a courageous second place at the beginning of June in the Leopardstown Fillies’ Trial Stakes (Gr.3), her seasonal bow.
This was her first attempt at the distance of a mile, having only ever run over seven furlongs previously in her career.
Know It All was settled in mid-division by up and coming apprentice jockey Ben Coen and once in the straight, the race opened up perfectly for the pair. She powered through a gap to pass the leaders in a matter of strides. Never in doubt, she put any stamina worries behind her running through the line to score a 2¼ length-victory in convincing fashion.
The Newtown Anner Stud Farm Ltd-owned and Mrs John Harrington-trained Celestial Object (IRE) (Galileo) finished second and was partnered by Shane Foley.
The Aga Khan-owned and M Halford-trained Ridenza (Sea The Stars) (IRE) was further 1¼ behind in third under Ronan Whelan.
Winning trainer Johnny Murtagh said after the race, “It’s a great win. She’s really a nice filly and she ran really well last time out, but was a bit unlucky and got shuffled back. She had a tough draw today, but Ben gave her a lovely ride. She showed us all the signs at home that she’d come on from her first run. Seven furlongs or a mile, it makes no difference to her. She’s a big powerful filly who travels well and there’s more to come from her.” Know It All is by the Japanese sire Lord Kanaloa (JPN) and was bred by Qatar Racing. She is out of Common Knowledge (GB), by the excellent broodmare sire Rainbow Quest (USA), the dam of Group winners Astrophysical Jet (GB) (Dubawi) and Coral Wave (IRE) (Rock Of Gibraltar). This was the first attempt at a mile for the bay filly
